Forget what ya heard. It’s totally possible for a man band to work and Charlie Wilson, Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake proved this with their spectacular showing at the 2013 BET Awards.

Charlie Wilson, or “Uncle Charlie,” as he’s affectionately known, has held it down for soul music for more than 30 years as the leader of the GAP Band. But he’s not been absent from the modern music scene thanks to his relationship with Pharrell, who put him on blazing hot tracks from the 2000′s like Snoop Dogg’s “Beautiful” and “Signs.”
After accepting his legendary award, Uncle Charlie hit the stage and ran through his a catalog of his hits and features, but things really turned up a notch when Pharrell, Justin and Uncle Charlie got into the groove and just lit the stage on fire. Snoop Dogg/Lion, for whatever reason, stood around and largely observed the magnificence going on in front of him.
Prior to Uncle Charlie hitting the stage, India Arie and Jamie Foxx tributed the R&B legend with their own performances. India’s glittered bell bottom jumpsuit was a perplexing fashion choice, but at least she stepped away from her Mother Earth image… a lil’ bit.
